We are looking for a dynamic individual with a proven track record of success leading a development team within the software industry. You will be working in a challenging environment, consulting with customers, providing fixes to complex problems as well as leading and coaching the development team. 

You work on the cutting edge of business, IT and hardware. The latter makes it extra interesting and challenging.

In addition, we are looking for someone who wants to develop himself further and is enthusiastic about expanding and sharing his knowledge. You are someone who has insight and analytical skills and is able to oversee an application in the larger picture. Above all, you have to be someone who also has both feet on the ground and has a pragmatic approach. You have to have a service-oriented attitude, both to the customers and to your colleagues. We also ask for a proactive attitude towards improving our products.

A nice aspect of the function is that you occasionally have the opportunity to visit abroad. This can be an international destination and you go with a colleague developer and hardware engineer to a customer to test on location and deliver a project. This involves a short stay of one week to 2 weeks and always in good consultation.

Since a lot of communication is in English, you are expected to have a good level of English in word and writing.


The Lead Developer lays the architectural en technical base for (complex) systems. The Lead Developer works as a unit with the Bakcend- and Frontend Developer(s), where the Lead Developer supervises the creation of the technical, as the functionality and user interaction in the products to deliver form the starting point. The Lead Developer has a focus on functionality, uses interaction design, datalayer and businesslogics. The Lead Developer supervises the backend- and frontend developers.

Purpose of the position

  • Supervising the development team in developing and maintaining the (backend of) higl level systems in which the functional demands of the client are key.
  • Leading the development of complex backend- and frontend codes and delivering modules as a team.
  • As an architect conceiving, creating, writing and delivering of technical designs, involving the development team.
  • Contributing in the delivering of products with a team of developers.
  • Contributing at coaching and supporting junior, medior and senior developers.


  • Design

Taking the lead in the feasibility assessment of functional designs, both for the technical aspects and the available architecture and infrastructure.

Leading the draft and updates of technical documentation.

Leading the budgeting of the development process based on (functional) specifications.

Taking the lead in presenting and advising the total technical design tot the Productmanager.

  • Realization and testing

Developing of backend- and frontend code for systems and setting up test- and production facilities.

Guarding the consistency between the functional specifications and the actual realized systems.

Leading and supporting setting up and executing all testplans.

Guarding source code and documentation conform the rules and frameworks set up for version control. Executing code reviews.

  • Support

Offering 2nd  or 3rd line support and advice and assisting in operational trouble shooting.

Updating programs in order to prevent and solve operational problems.

  • Leadership

Supporting and coaching the development team in executing their tasks.

Make sure the team members get the right attention as to keep them motivated.

Follow the internal guidelines towards quality, arbo and environmental care.


  • Bachelor (HBO) or Master (WO) informatics
  • Knowledge of Maritime and Offshore sector is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in leading a (development) team
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in developing IT systems and system documentation
  • Preferably some 6 years proven experience in programming with C# and minimum of 2 years in programming front end code.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Knowledge and experience in Agile and SCRUM.

Specific knowledge disired

OOP; Complex SQL instructions; .NET; Realtime webtechniques (SignalR/Websockets); Microsoft Service Architectures; conceptual knowledge of hardwareplatforms, operating systems and protocols; conceptual knowledge of XML/HTML/CSS unittests/program tests.
